What is ErP?
ErP stands for "Energy related Products"

This is a new regulation set by the European Union which focuses on energy used in items such as tyres, bulbs or shower heads. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other adverse environmental impacts by 20% by 2020. This is done throughout the life-cycle of a product with emphasis placed on the design and development stages of a product with a view to improving its energy efficiency. This will lead to savings for consumers and businesses.

To implement this new goal the ErP directive is made up of two smaller directives EcoDesign which affects manufactures only and Energy Labelling which affects both Manufacturers and Installers.

EcoDesign: This Directive is aimed at Manufacturers to make sure their products meet set energy requirements.

Energy Labelling: This Directive is aimed at both Manufactures and Installers to help communicate the complex information in a simple manner. This will happen in a similar way to white goods sold, anything under the ErP Directive will have a label with an efficiency rating from  A+++ to G. To let you make an informed purchase.

This is an example of the energy label that will be on all ErP boilers, as you can see there are two ratings one for the Central Heating and one for the Hot Water which will be on the combi boiler. On the System boiler there is an efficiency rating for Central Heating only.
